Low-Carb Fuel for Busy Men

Reader, Hey there to my fellow corporate warrior!

It's been a while since you heard from me—I've been busy working on myself, building fresh workout routines and meal plans, and recommitting to consistency.

I'm thrilled to share some exciting updates and have some inspiration just for you.

What’s New with Me

  • I just turned 37! To celebrate, my family and I escaped to beautiful Lake Naivasha and took a magical boat ride to Crescent Island. This private gem in the Great Rift Valley, made famous by the 1985 film Out of Africa, is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The island is a wildlife haven—zebras, giraffes, waterbucks, impalas, kongoni, elands, and so many more roam freely. Birdlife is equally spectacular: fish eagles, herons, black crakes, cranes, pelicans, ospreys, lily-trotters… you name it.

We wandered the tranquil paths, walking among wild animals in complete safety—Crescent Island has no predators, making up-close wildlife encounters simply unforgettable. The boat ride and guided nature walk offered breathtaking views and true connection with nature.

  • During the getaway, I unplugged completely. I followed a strict digital detox. Since March this year, I have deleted apps like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and even my work email from my phone. It is liberating to disconnect and just be present.
  • Back home, I officially launched my custom food diary—My Food Passport. It’s now ready for order and is a game-changer for sticking to a low-carb lifestyle with mindful tracking. Order it here: My Food Passport.
  • On the self-care front, I’ve recommitted to nourishing both mind and body: church with the family, meditation, journaling, and even starting a gratitude jar. These daily rituals are keeping me grounded and motivated.

Ambitious Fit Goals on the Horizon

I’ve been consistent in training, and August is all about momentum: I'm running 1 marathon this month and doubling down with 2 marathons in September. I feel healthy and strong, and I’m inviting you to ride this wave of motivation with me.

I'm putting together a short video from Crescent Island to capture the beauty and spirit of my journey—and I'll share it with you once it's ready.

Mindful Low-Carb Snacking: What’s Good for You?

When cravings hit, snack smart and low-carb. Here’s a quick breakdown of some nutritious options—and why they make great choices:

  • Macadamia nuts
Packed with heart-healthy monounsaturated fats, antioxidants, fiber, and minerals like manganese and copper. They're low in carbs and support blood sugar balance, heart health, brain and gut function—even weight management can benefit when eaten in moderation.
  • Cashew nuts
Rich in magnesium, iron, zinc, plus protein—great for immune support and satiety. They may also help lower blood pressure and increase “good” HDL cholesterol.
  • Peanuts (technically a legume)
High in plant-based protein, folate, and polyphenol antioxidants. They may help regulate blood sugar and support heart health.
  • Almonds
Loaded with fiber, vitamin E, healthy fats, and protein. They help reduce inflammation, support brain and immune function, and may improve cholesterol and blood sugar levels.
  • Greek-style yogurt
(Although not a nut, it’s a superb low-carb snack choice.) It’s high in protein and probiotics, which promote satiety, digestive health, muscle recovery, and overall immunity.
